Gold im Glas – Eine Reise in der Prosecco-Region

Do you know that Veneto is one of the most visited regions of Italy, thanks to its immense historical, artistic, and architectural heritage and natural landscape? In Veneto there is something for everyone: beautiful art cities to get lost in a journey through time, long stretches of beaches perfect for weekend getaways, mountain resorts for winter sports and hiking paths and hilly villages loved by visitors of all ages.

Just in the hills of Veneto, where the humid Po Valley climate becomes dry due to the slight difference in altitude, and the air is cooler, we find the perfect conditions for miles and miles of thriving vineyards and wine crops. The local vineyards produce countless variations of red and white, but the best known is undoubtedly the Prosecco Wine, the best-selling label in the world that – in 2014 – has outperformed even famous Champagne.

Fun Facts – Curiosity:

Livia, wife of the Roman Emperor Augustus, loved to drink the Puxinum “Pucino” what was called the prosecco wine in ancient times, as an elixir of youth.

The first poem in which the name Prosecco appears is the “Roccolo ditirambo” dated back to 1754.
